1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Why It Is Special The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was a sports car marketed from 1957 to 1974. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 (Beetle) with styling by Italy’s Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by German coachbuilding house Karmann. We have a mint condition, restored and modified 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia here at Skyway Classics, that is the best we have ever seen with a performance engine and is fully restored, painted a vibrant red, with aluminum wheels, and a restored red and black interior. Features 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Air-cooled, rear-mounted, 1.6 L flat-four engine Distributor ignition system Cooling System Air-cooled Rear-wheel drive 4-speed manual Transmission Carburetor Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes Performance distributor Performance dual exhaust system Aluminum wheels Black sidewall tires Engine compartment it sits in looks better and sportier as it did when it was new Completely restored red/black interior Twin bucket seats and rear seats and the matching door panels Red painted dash featuring a big round speedometer and other gauges Updated aftermarket radio, 4-speed shifter Black carpet and floor mats Karmann-Ghia looks has a great restoration with the red paint Shiny push bars in front Mechanical Specs Ours has an air-cooled, rear-mounted, 1.6 L flat-four engine that has been modified and all chromed-out, has a Distributor ignition system, Air-cooled Cooling System, Rear-wheel drive, 4-speed manual Transmission, and is carbureted, chrome engine cover, performance distributor, performance dual exhaust system, and has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes with it rolling on with aluminum wheels and black sidewall tires. It and the engine compartment it sits in looks better and sportier as it did when it was new. It runs, shifts, and drives perfectly and the sound is instantly recognizable as a high-horsepower VW. Interior The completely restored red/black interior has its twin bucket seats and rear seats and the matching door panels and looks great. The Ghia designers also did a great job disguising the Beetle’s interior appointments, and the seats are really the focal point of the car. It has the classy looking red painted dash featuring a big round speedometer and other gauges. It has the updated aftermarket radio, sporty 4-speed shifter, heater/defrost unit, black carpet and floor mats. Everything has been replaced and restored inside and looks as good as the outside with attention to everything. Exterior The bottom line is that the Karmann-Ghia looks has a great restoration with the red paint that is on it and its graceful lines, the curved fenders, and all the rest of the sheet metal. It has like new shiny push bars in front, unique trim pieces, great glass, all making this a car that still draws appreciative stares wherever it goes. FACTORY REPLACEMENT COVERAGE (Luxury & Economy)
Factory Like Coverage is just like it sounds -- a warranty that covers your automobile similar to when the auto was purchased brand new. It also features unlimited mileage something that most factory warranties won't give. This is an "exclusionary" policy, which in laymans terms means a policy where we tell you what isn't covered, and everything else is. As you can imagine, this is the best type of coverage money can buy.
Factory Like Coverage covers the reasonable cost to remedy any operating mechanical or electrical failure of the vehicle, for the time indicated on the contract application, except as specified as excluded, subject to the provisions, terms and conditions of this contract.
As you can clearly see, coverage of any operating mechanical or electrical failure essentially mimics the factory warranty. Standard exclusions such as fabric convertible tops, brake pads, tires, etc., do apply.
In addition to the Factory Like Coverage being the best coverage available, you can customize your coverage with coverage up to ten years from the time of purchase, and four deductible choices starting at $50, $100, $200, and $500.

an "inclusionary policy", which means we list all of the components covered.
Covered components include items from the engine, transmission, front wheel
drive, rear wheel drive, fuel system, electronics, cooling, etc. We like to say
that it covers the "mission critical" components, and then some. It features
unlimited mileage just like Factory Exotic Coverage. As
expected, you have the same deductible choices of $100, $250 and $500.

Definition: Factory Like and Factory Like Exotic is "exclusionary" coverage - covering everything except the "excluded items".
Factory Like and Factory Like Exotic Covered Components (Coverage A): Factory and Factory Exotic Coverage covers the reasonable cost to remedy any operating mechanical or electrical failure of the vehicle, for the time indicated on the contract application, except as specified as excluded, subject to the provisions, terms and conditions of this contract.

Exotic Covered Components (Coverage B): Engine: Cylinder block; heads; intake manifold; timing gear; timing gear cover; flywheel; oil pump; oil pump housing; water pump; harmonic balancer; valve covers; oil pan; crankshaft; valve train; crankshaft seals; connecting rod. Fuel System: Fuel pump; EFI sensors; throttle body assembly; injection pump; lines; vacuum pump. Transmission/Transaxle: Case: Torque converter; vacuum modulator; input/output shafts; bands; governor; washers. Front-Wheel Drive: Final drive housing; axle shaft; axle shaft; constant velocity joints; axle housing; axle supports; front hub; differential. Rear-Wheel Drive: Axle shafts and axle shaft; axle housing; propeller shafts; "U" joints; locking hubs; rear axle hub; differential side; pinion gears; disc limited slip. Wear and Tear Coverage (Coverage C): Wear and Tear Coverage is optional coverage and must be paid for at the time the service contract is purchased. It may not be added after purchasing the service contract. This coverage revokes the exclusion of "wear and tear items" from the excluded items list. Wear and tear items are those items that have failed due to being out of manufacturers recommended specifications, yet have not actually failed and are still a mechanical or electrical failure. We reserve the right to wait for a total failure depending on the severity of each claim. All other exclusions for this contract still apply.
Excluded Items for Coverage A, B, & C: Non-mechanical or non-electrical failures; frame or structural separation; clutch and related components; rubber parts; any repositioning, refitting or realigning; distributor cap/rotor; tires/wheels; air bag/supplemental restraint systems; lenses; battery and cables; all maintenance service and items such as alignments, wheel balances, engine tune-ups, spark/glow plugs, plug wires, brake pads, linings & shoes, filters, lubricants, coolants, hoses; bright metal; any illumination including lights; exhaust system; brake rotor/drums; normal fluid/oil lubricant seepage; shop supplies; body adjustments, buttons, handles, door hinges; cleaning; squeaks and rattles; water leaks; wear and tear items; belts; timing chains; leaking shocks; a/c recharging; failures due to lack of maintenance, lack of fluids/coolant/lubricants; any parts not necessary to the completion of the repair; components that fail due to a non-covered component; breakdowns due to rust/corrosion/overheating; compression loss through gradual failure or rings and valves; and non-factory installed components.
